the western classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid it’ll saddle up and get the ol’ spit-shile, thanks to an upcoming reboot. Rege-Jean Page (Bridgerton) and Glen Powell (Top Gun: Maverick) will play Butch and Sundance, respectively, and serve as executive producer.
According to the hollywood reporters, the disputed bidding war for the series produced by Joe and Anthony Russo came to Amazon after the offers of Disney + and Peacock. A director has yet to be named, but Kaz and Ryan Firpo (the eternals) have signed on to write the script. The Russos recently worked with Page on Netflix the gray manwhere they supposedly hit it off.
The series will go back to the 1969 film. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, starring Paul Newman and Robert Redford as outlaws on the run after a series of train robberies. The film won four Academy Awards, with Burt Bacharach’s famous score sweeping the Grammys and Golden Globes. The Russos are reportedly planning the untitled film. Butch and Sundance series as a new franchise for Amazon, with the potential for several spin-offs set in the Wild West. Following the announcement, the duo tweeted that it was “just the beginning”. Plot details have yet to be announced, but sources close to the project believe the show will take place in an alternate American story, much like Amazon’s. the Man in the High Castle or apple For all humanity.
